~> Practicing Hangul

I’m more of a Japanese enthusiast than a Korean since there is a part of their tradition which I really like. However, I’m a bit lazy in studying their so-difficult-to-learn language. I only know a few words and not even a single syllable of the kanji.

However, I never thought Korean style of writing would be easier. My classmate taught me the Hangul alphabets, together with consonants and vowels and how they are basically formed. I learned pretty fast. :D Here are some of the beginner’s guide in writing Hangul.

But I don’t know a single Korean word so it doesn’t sense much. Still, I would like to use it just for fun.

~> New Wallpapers

I just made some new vector widescreen wallpapers.

I really like wallpapers with real flowers in it with floral vector brushes. So I used the pink flower I took a long time ago, then pasted it in a 1200 x 800 resolution wallpaper. The size was a bit small for my laptop, and I just realized it after I was finished. I downloaded a lot of floral and foliage vector brushes from DeviantArt, then used the GIMP program.

To be quite honest, I’m not even good at making digital arts so it wasn’t as much as I expected it to be.

I really like this one. It’s coffee-themed with lots of brown and yellow hues. I made it at 1920 x 1200 resolution so it would fit well in my desktop. This is my best one so far, considering the creative factor.

~> All Souls Day 2009

We went to three cemeteries this year: Salian, Memorial Park and Puerto Rivas Ibaba. We visited our departed grand grandparent from both sides of the families. Thinking about it, I remembered Ma’am Sheila Grace Paz. I hope they all rest in peace.

I was very thankful that typhoon Santi crossed the Philippines just before November 1. Or else, it would have been a very sad celebration for our departed ones. The sky was powdery blue and very clear, with a cold gust of hanging amihan blowing off the wisps of clouds. I always like this fair weather. :D

We went home earlier than usual. And I just noticed that it was full moon that night, which was quite good for those who stayed their night in the cemetery.

~> Multi-colored Chicks

I went home this Friday due to the sudden suspension of classes because of typhoon Santi. I was of course overjoyed because I wasn’t able to wake up in the middle of the night as supposed to study for the coming long test in Math, quiz in Economics and Biology (cramming as always). So I went home as early as possible to enjoy the seemingly four-day long weekend.

I brought home the laboratory rat we’re supposed to use for the STR experiment (we haven’t started yet) and surprisingly, we have new pets: three chicks. One is red, one is green, one is bright yellow which were bought from the fiesta. They’re quite annoying actually, since they make a lot of chirping sounds inside the house.

~> STR at Mall

We’ve been under a lot of STRess lately due to our research project. Revising methodology, contacting various people, and doing a lot of paperwork were a pain. And not to mention our hundred fights between us, groupmates, who argue about division of labor, methodology, etc.

Despite of that, we were able to have fun at SM North Edsa. :D We went there to buy laboratory rat at the BioResearch store. We bought the albino blind rat since it was the last one they have and we needed it so much. We thought that it wouldn’t matter actually, since our research is about wound healing.

After that, we went to Tokyo-Tokyo to eat dinner. We ordered Yakisoba and Onion Rings beside our rat (which people found it creepy).

Our research project title is “The Efficacy of Loligo vulgaris (Squid) Ink as a Topical Treatment for Simple Cut”. It’s not as good as the other ones out there, but I know ours is unique. And we get to eat the squid after getting the ink sac. :D
