How time flies by so fast! Deadline is soon approaching for the submission of yearbook write-ups. It would be a bit strange if I will write it myself so I kindly asked for my friend’s testimonials. It was truly a heartwarming and surprising discovery; all this time I didn’t know that they see me in interesting points of view that I never imagined. I am most grateful to God for even for a little, I made a difference for the people around me.

Meanwhile, I made this short poem; a summary of all the testimonials from my friends. It quite sounds like the tagline of my blog: “radiating great happiness and serenity”.

A soft voice heard from afar,
Song of a little maya.
Greeting the sun a pleasant day.

I haven’t been very disheartened in my whole college life. And I have to sign every time I remember those disappointing moments even though I already tried hard to sweep them off my head. First, I was not able to do my best in my last three consecutive exams. Second, I was partly responsible for not doing a scheduled laboratory activity which made our professor angry. And to add into that, our group forgot to do yet another task which I am again responsible in assigning. This again, made our professor angry (I think). I have never made a professor very disappointed. And I am very much disappointed and disheartened with myself as well. I could have done a better job. These things may not sound enough for others to lose one’s spirit though. Maybe because I’m very much used to having my ideals and plans go the way I wanted them to be.

But of course I know that I shouldn’t be disheartened with these trifle things. I am pretty sure there are many more difficult times ahead. In meteorologist’s context, this is just a mere low pressure area compared to a devastating super typhoon.

And just before I made this post, I remember a beautiful poem I had to memorize in one of my CAT training sessions in my high school days. It’s title is “Don’t Quit”.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will.
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill.
When the funds are low and the debts are high.
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit.
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns.
As every one of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out:
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow—
You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out—
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are.
It may be near when it seems so far:
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit—
It’s when things seem worst that you
Must not quit.

What a beautiful poem. Anyway, I should also remember to be like a child. When a child falls, he cries. And quickly and trustingly, he accepts a helping hand from an adult; and he stops crying. Just soon after that, he already runs again freely as if nothing happened; the fall already forgotten.

Just now I realized, writing down this post has eased my spirit a little. For now I am listening to the soothing and happy instrumental songs of DEPAPEPE to raise my morale. And I should always remember that whatever happens, I am still God’s daughter child.

Oh yeah, one more thing. FLOW! (take from one of DEPAPEPE’s song). Just like water which does not stop trickling down, even to the tiniest crevices of the biggest and toughest rocks in the river until it reaches the sea.

He is definitely one of the best choral singers.

Jean-Baptiste Maunier, a French, was a soprano with a very high angelic voice. He became a member of the children’s choir, La Chorale des Petits Enfants De Saint-Marc. But he just broke his voice recently due to puberty, and now though his voice is not as high as before, is still good. I think he is planning to be a tenor.

I learned about him from the movie Les Choristes, where he became famous. Our religious instructor made us watch this and I couldn’t be more grateful since I enjoyed and learned from it very much.  The plot was very touching, and I liked the singing part, especially when Maunier as Pierre sings solo. This part was when the formed boy’s choir performs. The song is entitled “La Nuit“. Video by Peteronfire.

He also sang a magnificently wordless song, “Concerto Pour Deux Voix“, with Clémence Saint-Preux to record his high voice. Seriously, this song poured forth all the wonders of his voice. Even I can’t sing as high as that. Video by wwjdrola.

This is his voice now, nice and deep, and it suits him well. This video was a practice for an upcoming benefit concert, I think. Video by JBMauniernet.

I hope he sings more choir-like songs.

I needed to write an article related to Economics, so I thought of discussing the money value of twenty pesos this present time.

Now showing! We made this movie poster from a Japanese creation myth just for fun; actually as a requirement  in English but we also had fun doing it.

The title is “God Wars” but there was really no war, we only exaggerated the conflict between Amaterasu and Susa-no-o. We came up with “The Eclipse” because like the creation myth said, Amaterasu hid herself in the rock cave of heaven so there was total darkness (which could be described as an eclipse).

The tagline “One poop started it all” was when Susa-no-o pooped in her dwelling. But it wasn’t that mischief that started all the conflict. It was when Amaterasu was hurt because of Susa-no-o’s pie bald colts that made her hid herself in the cave. But it was so funny and annoying that we pointed it out as the cause of the “war”.

And we made a comment “Hardcore” by an unknown guy. I did not know why my groupmates chose it though.

The picture above is half-Amaterasu and half-Susa-no-o, you might not notice it since it does not look like the sun goddess. The extra small person at the left side is Ama no Uzume no Mikoto who danced wildly outside the rock cave.

“Mga Munting Tinig” is one of the best Filipino movies I’ve watched because of its simplicity and straightforwardness, supported by its inspiring story.  It’s about  a teacher who went to a remote and impoverished town of Malawig, Ms. Melinda Santiago, played by Alessandra de Rossi.

I can’t help but cry every time  I watch this part, where the theme song is played.

Kapayapaan, kasaganahan, at pagmamahalan
Sa mundo…

This lovely song is a soundtrack of a Japanese movie, “Taiyou no Uta” or “A Song to the Sun”; a tragic romance story of Kaoru who has an allergy to ultraviolet rays. Any by definition of tragic, the girl dies which left me crying after watching it.

I really like this song generally because YUI is a very good singer, and also because of the lyrics.

Dakara ima ai ni yuku
So kimetanda
Poketto no kono kyoku wo
kimi ni kikasetai

Sotto boryu-mu wo agete
Tashikamete mitayo

Oh Good-bye Days
